When you arrive to a new place:
Seek out healthy eating spots. Even if you’re not vegetarian, a vegetarian eatery is guaranteed to have healthy offerings. Another safe bet: Japanese food. To get a head start, scour the web pre-trip.
Always have snacks on-hand from home. Trail mix, granola bars, or mini packs of soy milk if you have a dairy intolerance. These will tide you over until you find a local health food store.
Try hard to forget what time it is back home. Everybody hates the whiner who incessantly mentions that it’s 2 a.m. back home. Do your best to stay awake till normal bedtime on the first few days in your new time zone.
Add lavender oil to a bath. Induces relaxation; great after a long day in front of the camera.
Exercise. Nothing will get you back on track, both body and mind, like exercising as soon as you step foot in a new city — gym, yoga, whatever.
“Just in cases” for the travel kit: Echinacea, vitamin C, herbal teas (chamomile for tummy troubles; peppermint or ginger for digestion), tea tree oil (an all-purpose disinfectant; can even help zap zits), aloe vera gel, Bach Rescue Remedy (homeopathic stress relief), as well as any other vitamin/supplement that’s part of your routine.
