 Madeleine Berrevoets by mooishi
If you hear a lot of mooishi in the near future, "Gesundheit" is not the appropriate response. "Lemmesee" makes way more sense.
What's a mooishi then? It's the successful collaboration of two friends that set aside a fledgling graphic design business to focus on photography. david moo king and Bryan Ishiguro made that decision only six months ago and have been in demand ever since.
For each shoot the pair work take turns behind the camera and serve as each other's assistant. It's a remarkable collaboration that, because of their comfort in each other's style and ability, is producing remarkably imaginative images.
Their work can be seen in this month's Fashion magazine (Maria Dvirnik's Back in Black spread), on comp cards in this city's top agencies and of course, on the the mooishi website.
Casts Models for: Editorial, Advertising, Campaigns
What you look for when you cast models? "As for physical attributes, we love models that look uniquely beautiful (if that makes sense) - details like their eyes, mouth, hair, bodies, you name it! Our shooting style consists of bringing out details in a new and fresh way.
Aside from that, attitude and personality are very important. To capture great photos it takes a lot of communication and trust with the models. We love models that are open minded and willing to work hard for the shots."

What turns you off to a model? "It is very hard to work with a negative attitude during a shoot. As photographers we can only do so much. The sort of quality and energy we are always after is a direct result of everyone's efforts - not one single individual.
The most frustrating moments have resulted from laziness and a negative disposition."
Anything else?
"Modeling takes practice. Learning how to use your body and face to express what is necessary for the particular shoot.
Think of modelling like acting, but instead of dialogue you must communicate through body language.
It is crucial for a model to have a positive attitude and open mind. If you're enjoying the experience, the final product will express it."
